In the mid-1980s he enrolled at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, and his first success came in 1986 when he won a prestigious Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship amateur title. He repeated the same success in 1987, when he also won the French Open Junior Doubles title.

In 1988 Jim Courier turned pro, and in 1991 made a career breakthrough when he reached the final of the French Open, and after a five-set match against his academy friend and roommate Andre Agassi, Courier won his first pro Grand Slam title. In the remaining Grand Slams of that season, Wimbledon and the US Open, he finished as a runner-up. These achievements provided the basis for Jim Courier’s net worth.

He began 1992 by winning the Australian Open. Subsequently he managed to defend his French Open title, and set a 25-match winning streak which led him to becoming the world’s No. 1 tennis player –a position which he held for the next 58 weeks. Later that year he appeared under the national colors of the US team in the Davis Cup, and also participated in Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain.

Prior to his retirement from professional tennis in 2000, in 1993 Jim Courier won another Australian Open title, and besides not managing to win Wimbledon and US Open, still holds the record of being the youngest tennis player who reached all four Grand Slam finals. In 1995, he led the US national team to win the Davis Cup title, and his professional tennis portfolio contains 26 singles titles and six doubles titles which earned him a sum of over $14 million in prize money, including Masters Series’ tournament titles at the Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open as well as Italian Open. All these professional accomplishments helped Jim Courier to add a significant sum of money to his net worth.

Since retiring, Jim Courier has been serving as a game analyst as well as TV commentator. To the present day, he has collaborated with USA Network, TNT, NBC Sports and the Seven Network for which he appeared not only as a commentator but also as a host broadcaster during Australian Open in 2005. More recently, in 2015 Courier served as Sky Sports’ covering the US open as their main analyst. Doubtlessly, all these engagements have helped Jim Courier to further increase the total of his wealth.

For his professional achievements and contribution to tennis, in 2005 Jim Courier was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

In 2004, Courier founded InsideOut Sports & Entertainment, his own production company which owns and operates the Outback Champions Series as well as Legendary Nights events.
