Terrifying bodycam footage shows an Israeli special-ops soldier coming face to face with two Hamas terrorists in a Gaza building and eventually taking them both out, even after being wounded by grenades tossed at him, Israel said Tuesday.
The encounter was filmed by the helmet camera of a member of the elite Yahalom unit in the Israel Defense Forces’ Combat Engineering Corps when he comes across the pair of Hamas operatives in an apartment in Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighborhood.
The Israeli soldier fires repeatedly at the men from a doorway before ducking back into the hallway for cover as they try shooting him.
The Israel Defense Forces soldier is able to take out the terrorist closest to him, but as he backed up for cover, the second Hamas member throws a grenade that explodes right in front of the Israeli fighter.
The Yahalom member is knocked back and dazed in a cloud of smoke as the Hamas gunman continues to fire.
Despite being injured by the blast, the IDF soldier collects himself and waits until the gunfire ends before returning to the doorway and firing back.
After a brief pause, the soldier makes his way slowly into the room, where he comes face to face with a Hamas terrorist who was also making his way in through a destroyed hole in the wall.
The men both fire at each other at the same time, but the terrorist misses as the IDF soldier pumps bullets at him repeatedly until his enemy drops dead.
Shejaiya and Jabalya continue to see intense fighting as the IDF citied the areas as the final two Hamas strongholds to be taken out in northern Gaza.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Monday that the two Hamas bases were surrounded and that IDF soldiers were “on the verge of dismantling” them.
“We are near a breaking point in the northern Gaza Strip,” Gallant said, calling on Hamas fighters in the area to surrender like hundreds have so far.
Shejaiya also recently saw the loss of its battalion commander, Emad Krikae, one of the leaders suspected behind missile attacks and raids conducted Oct. 7.
He was slain by Israeli forces, as was his predecessor who was listed last week among the dozen other commanders taken out in airstrikes across Gaza.
